Psychodynamic therapy
Psychodynamic therapy helps you develop insight into your difficulties and aims to help you change or find more suitable ways of coping. It is based on the belief that the past influences the present in that early experiences may affect the ways we currently experience life and our relationships. During therapy you will become more aware of the emotions which underlie your current problems.
Psychodynamic therapy is very helpful for longstanding difficulties, repeated experiences of distress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and the repeated patterns of behaviour that cause problems for you.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence considers psychodynamic therapy suitable for depression , self-harm and social anxiety.
