Dr Jo McKay, DPsych, CPsychol, AFBPsS.
I am a Counselling Psychologist, a chartered member and associate fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct of the BPS and the Standards of the HCPC.
I have many years' experience working in both private practice and within the NHS (South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust). During this time I worked within a psychological therapies team, providing a psychological service to community mental health teams and offering individual and group therapies. I also developed and ran a programme for Anger Management and treatment for several years.
I enjoy supervising both qualified psychologists and those in training. I have experience in teaching and running workshops both within the NHS and in the voluntary and private sectors.
My private practice rooms are in Mayfair and the City, where I see individuals for therapy. Whilst my main therapeutic approaches are Psychodynamic Therapy or CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), I will always consider the needs of the individual and, if more suitable, work in an integrative way utilising aspects of both models of therapy in such a way as to meet the person's needs. I work with individuals for short, time-limited periods or longer term, open-ended therapies.
